Surf & Sup school De Kraaij

Windsurfing Get to know the beautiful sport of windsurfing. In a one-and-a-half-hour lesson, they will teach you the basics of windsurfing. Can you already windsurf? Then you can hire windsurfing equipment at our Surf & Sup. Wingfoilen Wingfoiling is the new and fast-growing sensation in water sports. Wingfoiling brings together the best elements of windsurfing and kitesurfing and is a new form of surfing. They will teach you the basics of wingfishing in a one-and-a-half-hour lesson. Renting equipment is only possible if you have already had a lesson or can wingfoil.

In the Staatsbossen near Sint Anthonis cycling, mountain biking and hiking routes connect wooded landscapes, heathlands and sand drifts. You can choose from short routes from 2 km, but you can also combine them into a longer route of up to 26 km.

Museum De Bastei

Archaeology museum De Bastei gives you a look into the underground passages of the city. Deep underground, between the Valkhofheuvel and the Waal river, you go back in time 2000 years and the history of Nijmegen is up for grabs. You can see the remains of a Roman quay wall, a part of a city castle and the remains of a defensive tower. Super fun also for children!

Have you ever seen anything like this? There used to be a lot of these prickly hedges in our country. They served as yard dividers and the wood was used to make tools. If you visit the Maasheggen near Boxmeer at the right time, all hawthorn and blackthorn hedges are in bloom, usually around mid-May.

Mookerheide

Vast heathlands, beautiful forests and a rich history characterize the Mookerheide nature reserve. There was a lot of fighting here during the Second World War, but also in the Eighty Years' War this was a true battlefield. You will find two entrenchments, defensive structures from which you could see the enemy coming from afar. Nowadays you can mainly enjoy the peace and quiet on foot or by bike. Keep your ears open, because Different species of woodpeckers make their sounds here. In the evening you can hear the nightjar.

Sint-Jansberg

Here on St. John's Mountain, the going is up and down. Winding paths take you over the fairytale-like estate consisting of wooded hills, marshes, crystal clear streams and fields. Along the way, with a little luck you may spot a roe deer. Walk to an ancient water mill, the Bovenste Plasmolen from 1725 or to the Helkuil where groundwater bubbles up. Here you can climb a staircase that has been in existence since 1880.
